About Dr. John Gottman:
World renowned for his work on marital stability and divorce prediction, John Gottman has conducted 40 years of breakthrough research with thou- sands of couples. His work on marriage and parenting have earned him numerous major awards, including: Four National Institute of Mental Health Research Scientist Awards, The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy Distinguished Research Scientist Award, The American Family Therapy Academy Award for Most Distinguished Contributor to Family Systems Research, The American Psychological Association Division of Family Psychology, Presidential Citation for Outstanding Life- time Research Contribution, and The National Council of Family Relations, 1994 Burgess Award for Outstanding Career in Theory and Research. Dr. Gottman was named one of the Top 10 Most Influential Therapists of the past quarter-century by the Psychotherapy Networker. He is the author of 190 published academic articles and author or co-author of 40 books. Co-founder of the Gottman Institute with his wife, Dr. Julie Schwartz Gottman, John was also the Executive Director of the Relationship Research Institute. He is Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the University of Washington, where he founded “The Love Lab” at which much of his research on couples’ inter- actions was conducted.
About Dr. Julie Schwartz Gottman:
Julie is the co-founder and President of The Gottman Institute, and Clinical Supervisor for the Couples Together Against Violence study. A highly respected clinical psychologist, she is sought internationally by media and organizations as an expert advisor on marriage, sexual harassment and rape, domestic violence, gay and lesbian adoption, same-sex marriage, and parenting issues. She is the co-creator of the immensely popular Art and Science of Love weekend workshops for couples, and she also codesigned the national clinical training program in Gottman Couples Therapy. Her other achievements include: Washington State Psychologist of the Year; Author/co-author of three books; Wide recognition for her clinical psychotherapy treatment, with specialization in distressed couples, abuse and trauma survivors, substance abusers and their partners, and cancer patients and their families.
LEVEL 1: Bridging the Couple Chasm GOTTMAN COUPLES THERAPY: A NEW RESEARCH-BASED APPROACH

Clinicians who take this two-day workshop will be equipped with new methods and tools to help couples break the cycle of criticism, defensiveness, contempt and stonewalling. Complete with all Gottman Method Couples Therapy marital assessment questionnaires, exercises and interventions. Level 1 improves your work with couples immediately and with dramatic results. “Science of Trust” in the context of couple relationships, including the physiology of trust and betrayal, and the mathematics of trust and betrayal.
Clinicians will learn:
• Research-based assessments and effective interventions to help understand couples’ struggles.
• Research-based strategies and tools to help couples successfully manage conflict.
• Skills that empower couples to dialogue about their worst gridlocked issues by uncovering their underlying dreams, history & values.
• Methods to help couples process their fights and heal their hurts.
• Techniques for couples to deepen their intimacy and minimize relapse
Clinicians will receive:
• A Two-Day Live Workshop with the Gottmans.
• Gottman’s 300-Page Clinical Manual (Featuring the latest research and new relationship assessment questionnaires and clinical interventions).
• Certificate of Completion for Level 1 Training.
• Eligibility to continue on to Level 2 and 3; eligibility to become a Gottman Certified Therapist.

No Outside Food Policy
The Mountain America Expo Center does not allow any outside food or drink in the venue. Coffee, tea and water will be provided throughout the conference.
Cancellation Policy
You may cancel your registration up to 10 days before the workshop (Monday, September 9, 2019) and receive a full refund minus a $75 cancellation fee. If cancellation occurs in less than 10 days prior to the event, there is no refund. Also, if the event date is changed for some reason, the presenter is ill, the presenter will be rescheduled for another date and you may cancel your registration up to 10 days before the new date, for a full refund minus a $75 cancellation fee. If the event is cancelled and we will not hold the event, only the cost of the tuition will be refunded, no hotel, travel, or any other costs. Also, if you decide not to attend, the registration is NOT transferable to another future event.
