Course Description
In the dynamic field of mental health, maintaining ethical relationships is paramount. This interactive workshop, led by Dr. Kristen Erskine and Dr. Kevin Knutson, will delve into the practical applications of various ethical codes. We will explore how these codes impact our daily practice, identify common unethical relationship pitfalls, and provide strategies for maintaining professional boundaries.

Intended Audience
There are no prerequisites to attend. This workshop is crafted for mental health professionals to help fulfill their required ethics hours requirements, including Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, Psychologists and Mental Health Counselors. Suncrest Counseling is responsible for the content of this workshop. It is the responsibility of professionals to verify with their state board of professionals to confirm this meets state(s) continuing education requirements.

About the Presenters
Kevin V. Knutson, PhD
LCMHC, NCC, ACS Founding member, RMUoHP Mental Health and School Counseling programs
Kevin Knutson has been a licensed mental health counselor for the past 30 years. As a counselor, he has worked in public schools, adult and youth residential facilities, online counseling, wilderness programs, private practice, and in mental health facilities. His areas of expertise include trauma, sexual abuse, domestic violence, substance abuse, parenting, training, and leadership. He has presented at many local, state, and national professional conferences. He has taught many master’s level mental health courses at several institutions.
Prior to his work in counseling and academia, Kevin served a tour in Germany as an officer in the US Army and then as a Branch Manager of a bank. He graduated from Brigham Young University with degrees in Corporate Communications (BA) and Educational Psychology (M.Ed.). He then graduated with his doctorate in a CACREP accredited program through the University of Cumberlands studying Counselor Education and Supervision. Kevin was one of the founding members of the RMUoHP Mental Health and School Counseling programs.
Dr. Kristin Erskine
Ed.D., LCMHC, NCC, MAC, SAP, Assistant Professor, Counseling Program, RMUoHP
Dr. Kristin Erskine has extensive experience and education in substance abuse treatment and trauma treatment and has worked as a clinical mental health counselor for 20 years. She has taught counseling in higher education for 14 years. Dr. Erskine is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor, a National Certified Counselor, a Master Addictions Counselor, and a Substance Abuse Professional.
Her areas of specialty in teaching are addictions, ethics, mindfulness and meditation, and spirituality in the counseling session. Dr. Erskine currently has a limited private practice where she provides substance abuse assessments for people who have occupations with Department of Transportation oversight. She also provides Psychological First Aid for employee assistance programs in Utah.

- Attendance and Completion: Attendees must participate in the entire workshop to be eligible for CE hours. No partial credit will be given. This includes timely arrival to each session and staying for the entire duration of the workshop/training sessions. In addition to other online attendance tracking methods we use Zoom attendee reporting to verify minutes your device(s) were connected to this session. If your Zoom user is under a different name or alias it is your responsibility to notify the Zoom moderators that you are in attendance under a certain name and/or you are attending online under
- Verification of Attendance: You are required to follow a sign-in and sign-out process to verify attendance. Instructions will be given to you for your program and format.
- Evaluation and Feedback: Attendees must complete an evaluation form or survey at the end of the workshop, not later than seven days after the program.
- Professional Responsibility: Attendees determine whether the workshop aligns with their professional development needs and whether the content applies to their practice. It is important to emphasize that the completion certificate does not imply endorsement or certification of any specific technique, intervention, or approach.
- Course Certificate: There is no additional charge to receive a PDF completion certificate for this training. Attendees will select to receive one certificate from an association that approved this program or one general certificate of completion. The evaluation form on the last day of the training will allow you to designate the association, your full name, and your license number as they should appear on your certificate.

Cancelation Policy
Cancellations must be made in writing and emailed to events@suncrestcounseling.com and will be honored as follows:
We can provide refunds minus a $75 cancellation fee if an attendee cancels at least ten days (Monday, May 27, 2024) in advance. No refunds will be issued if registration is canceled within ten days of the webinar.
In the rare event that we need to cancel a webinar due to circumstances beyond our control, we will make every effort to notify attendees with as much advance notice as possible. Attendees will be allowed to transfer to another webinar or obtain a full refund.

Attendee technology problems:
It is the responsibility of the webinar attendees to test their computer setup prior to the start of the webinar. If a technical failure at your home or workplace prevents access to the live webinar, you are not eligible for a refund. We will consider issuing a refund if the technical problem is due to our error.
Attendee email issues:
Refunds will not be issued in cases where an attendee did not receive the webinar login instruction email due to issues like restricted emails, bounced emails, or any other system issues. It is the attendee’s responsibility to contact us if they don’t receive the required login information at least 24 hours prior to the start time of the webinar.

Attendees who do not participate in the live webinar will not be entitled to a refund.
