TOPIC:  Why Our Clients Can’t Stop — and How They Can

Many of our clients are already sincerely trying to kick their pornography habit. As they put up a good fight time after time, but keep failing, they start to feel exasperated and eventually even hopeless. Too often, the problem is that they’re exerting themselves in all the wrong ways. They brace against temptation and fight unwanted thoughts, trying to suppress their urges, all in the hope of avoiding the destructive behavior. This presentation will teach four key practices clients can use to shift out of “struggle mode” and gradually shrink the size of the footprint of pornography addiction in their lives until it becomes just another area of life they are effectively managing. These include accepting unwanted thoughts, interrupting the looping mind, getting to the bottom of urges, and pursuing value-based gratifications.
